Having joined Coronation as a client service graduate in 2017, Lerato was drawn to the prospect of learning and channeling that knowledge to improve the lives of ordinary people. She moved into the role of Personal Investments Analyst in 2018, where she continues to develop and contribute meaningfully towards Coronation’s retail clients.


Why did you choose a career in asset management?

Because of the diverse career paths within asset management and the opportunity to use my knowledge to improve the lives of odinary people.

What do you like about working at Coronation as a graduate straight from University?

Coronation is a high performance company that is built on teamwork and I have felt like a valuable team member from day one. Coming from university, my main goal was to learn as much as I could. I can truly say that I have had a very steep learning curve during my time here at Coronation.

What do you love about what you do?

The different situations that I encounter. Because I get to deal with diverse clients, I get to develop my EQ and grow professionally, as every client brings a new challenge for me to solve.

What type of individual would enjoy working for Coronation?

Someone who is willing to learn, work hard and contribute to the business not only within the borders of their role within the business. Someone who is willing to find opportunities to grow and apply the different skills they have.

What advice would you give grads starting out in their first job?

There is no such thing as a ‘job description’, find opportunities to learn something new about the company that you are in and how you can help. Ensure that you do your day-to-day job excellently and aim to be flexible and willing to assist the people around you with different tasks, even when it does not form part of your ‘job description.
