Repeat win for Coronation as Raging Bull SA Management Company of the Year

04 February 2014 - Coronation Insights

For the second consecutive year, Coronation Fund Managers was named South African Management Company of the Year at the 18th annual Raging Bull awards ceremony held in Cape Town last week. The award is given to the unit trust management company with the most consistent overall risk-adjusted performance across a suite of five or more rand-denominated funds (both domestic and international) with a performance history of at least five years.

At an individual fund level, Coronation’s global and fixed interest funds fared particularly well: The Coronation Strategic Income Fund was awarded Best South African Interest-Bearing Fund on a straight performance basis* over three years to 31 December 2013; and the Coronation Global Capital Plus [ZAR] Feeder Fund (best SA-domiciled global multi-asset low equity fund); Coronation Global Managed [ZAR] Feeder Fund (best SA-domiciled global multi-asset high equity fund); Coronation Optimum Growth Fund (best SA-domiciled worldwide multi-asset flexible fund), and Coronation Global Managed [USD] (best FSB-approved offshore global asset allocation fund) all received certificates on a straight performance basis.

Pieter Koekemoer, head of Personal Investments at Coronation says: “We are honoured to be named the best domestic management company for a second consecutive year. At Coronation creating long-term value for our clients is our primary focus. This is a commitment that is supported by the top quartile performance achieved across our entire flagship fund range over meaningful periods (five years and more).

Koekemoer adds: “It is also particularly pleasing to see that our international product range, managed out of Cape Town, is being recognised for its strong performance track record. Whether investing in South Africa or internationally, our funds cater for the key investor needs of immediate income, a combination of income and growth or maximising long-term capital growth.”

The annual Raging Bull awards ceremony is jointly sponsored by Personal Finance, PlexCrown Fund Ratings and ProfileData.

*Top performers on a straight performance basis are ranked on a three-year lump sum NAV to NAV basis as at 31 December 2013, with income distributions reinvested at the ex-dividend date. Calculations by ProfileData.
