How we invest in our people
We value our diverse team of people who share a culture of excellence and curiosity.
At Coronation, our employees are our most valuable asset and we pride ourselves on recruiting and retaining the best talent. Remaining up to date on key industry trends and best practice across our disciplines is integral to our high-performance culture. All employees, irrespective of role or tenure are encouraged to upskill and deepen their knowledge.
Employees are offered the opportunity to study further, with Coronation paying the full cost of the degree, diploma or short course that will support employees in developing their role within the business. Examples include CFAs, MBAs and other university qualifications, as well as product, regulatory and compliance training. In addition, employees are encouraged to attend and participate in international conferences and events in order to ensure that they remain on the cutting edge of industry developments.
Aspiring Leaders Programme
This annual programme provides an opportunity for ten high-performing employees to build self-awareness, create a positive influence and build increased connection with fellow Coronation employees and team members. This programme is designed to continually create opportunities for growth in our low employee turnover, flat-structured environment where retention is a key.
Working as part of a high-performance meritocracy is both rewarding and demanding. We provide a number of interventions to assist employees in achieving the skills and outlook to deal with the demands of the job. We dedicate significant spend to developing the soft skills that are essential when working as part of a team as well as being required to take personal accountability for both their output and work experience.
We offer employees a variety of coaching and training interventions, including:
- Ignite Group Coaching Programme
- Individual coaching
- Various self-mastery courses
- Skills development
One of the biggest challenges for young graduates in South Africa is gaining the necessary work experience needed to qualify for full-time employment. To assist students in this crucial transition period, we offer a comprehensive internship programme.
Coronation Internship Programmes
We offer 23-month internship contracts as well as other contract opportunities that are suitable for graduates wherever a need exists across various areas of the business. Our graduate opportunities are designed to develop a pool of qualified and competent specialists across different functions within our business. Many of our interns go on to be employed at Coronation. Visit our Graduate Opportunities job category for all available opportunities.
Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme
The Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme is a public-private partnership that funds students studying towards high-demand occupations. Funding includes tuition, accommodation, travel, books, meals and a stipend. In addition, universities provide students with academic support, social support, life skills training and medical support, when required.
Youth Employment Service Programme
We have partnered with ORTSA and developed a Youth Employment Service (YES) internship programme for early childhood development teaching assistants. The purpose of this programme is to train and mentor young interns as teaching assistants in pre-schools and Grade R classrooms both in the Western Cape and Gauteng. This programme is aimed at aiding teachers and supporting the learners. We hope that many of our interns will seek opportunities to follow a career in education post this internship.
Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary Programme
Our Bursary Programme identifies previously disadvantaged learners with academic potential who want to study commerce at any recognised university in South Africa. It is called the Exceptional Student bursary as these students show an incomparable level of grit and desire to change their personal circumstance and that of their communities.
Our bursaries are full bursaries that pay for education, equipment, travel and accommodation. Also, students are provided with coaching and mentoring, tutorial support, professional development and vacation work in preparation for the working world. Once the bursary students graduate, we endeavour to employ them at Coronation.
Excel@UNI administers our bursary. If you are interested, please apply here.
As a South African business, we are about supporting and investing in our country and its people for the long term.
