Zukisa Luswazi

Investment Analyst

I joined the Coronation investment team in 2015 as a research assistant/trainee analyst, focusing on South African equities. I became a CFA Charterholder in 2017 and today I research companies that operate in the education and non-banking financial sectors.

Describe what you do here at Coronation and how that benefits our clients

Among other things, I research companies to determine whether they are worthy investments for clients or not; I also help others in my team do the same.

Humility, good judgment, and hard work are 3 skills necessary to succeed.

What has been your career highlight so far at Coronation?

It is impossible to isolate only one highlight. However, the greatest moments are always after completing meaningful research on companies and/or industries to arm the investment team with original work and investment insights that can be exploited for clients.

What do you enjoy mostly about working in your team/department?

Undoubtedly, the rigour of our investment process and the intensity of our debates – this is how we maximise our odds of success in our pursuit of great investment outcomes for clients.

When you joined Coronation, what did you find was pleasantly different to what you expected?

The sheer frugality of the firm. If people wished to enjoy luxuries, they either sponsor them, broker spectacular deals or do so at home. This is how I know every day we are running our business properly

What 3 skills do you feel are necessary for one to succeed in your field?

Humility, good judgment and hard work.
